Sally Werner
"Fish in a Dish" - SALA Festival 2016

Inspired by the plight of the Great Barrier Reef, and the unnecessary dumping of coffee pods. Fish in a Dish is a colourful splash into the world of fish animated by Nespresso pods, bits of glass and old tin with the odd bottle opener coming out to play.

18 Oakwood Rd, Oakbank - The Exhibition runs daily for the month of August 11am - 4pm

During the exhibition locals can take their pods to be recycled at the Cellar Door. But only Nespresso pods – Sally hasn’t discovered a way to recycle the plastic pods.

The Kombi Series - “Drive Away”
SALA Festival 2014

The Volkswagon Kombi Series imortalises the spirit of the 1950’s-60’s ‘Splity’ Kombi. "Drive Away" was a romantic and historical dedication in metal, paint and glass that featured works by Reg Eastaugh, Judith Millham and Sally Werner as part of the 2014 SALA Festival.

The Kombi Series is currently on display in the foyer of JABA Multimedia Design, Adelaide.

Tin is my Canvas - Sally Werner, “Not the” Glass Artist

There’s no polishing and lots of stomping on materials with my boots! As with my glass work I design around what I have in front of me, I worked out years ago that designing and then looking for what I needed did not work. So I fossick around, collect and stock pile and the pieces just evolve. I never know what I am going to come out of the studio with but it is always with a laugh ... my kids think I am nuts!

“Tin is my Canvas” Exhibition
Three Brothers Arms - 2013 SALA Festival

After 30 years of being a Glass Artist specialising in Leadlight and Mosaic I have adapted those skills to a new material. The work in this exhibition has come about because somebody got rid of something which found its way to me. And this rusty old piece took me on a new adventure. In this new work I use old objects made of various types of old metal, the rustier the better.

The Birrabang Project

Birrabang is a unique dwelling under construction in the Adelaide Hills. Sally was commissioned to design and produce the stunning leadlight feature windows to compliment the large timber structural elements and to link the inside with the beautiful natural surroundings. The glass designs feature rainbow lorikeets, a galah, a sulphur crested cockatoo and a possum ... all found in and around the area. The tall window in the dining area features a and FJ Holden (complete with chrome) driving through vineyards towards a hot air balloon on a Sunday afternoon.

Traditional Leadlight

“Glass is a wonderful medium to work in. I love the colours, texture and ‘feel’ of glass and the changes it takes on in different light. My aim through glass is to bring as much life to my work as I possibly can.”

Sally designs and produces traditional leadlight windows, with a twist, for the front entrance of your home, leaving a lasting impression. Sally also offers a repair service for existing leadlight installations.
